We are starting two projects that will help the efficiency of
our molding system. The first is a pneumatic conveyance of resin from the
pulverizing mill and storage area to the new Ferry 6000. This system will save a
significant amount of time and provide for less plastic contamination because it
is essentially a closed loop system. Currently, powder is weighed, mixed, and
transported to and from the machine manually. When finished, we will weigh, mix,
and transport automatically and eliminate some of the back breaking
work.
The second project is called a leak decay system. We will be
eliminating our submerge process to incorporate this system. The Leak Decay is
more responsive to pressure changes, can test up to 16 parts at one time, is not
messy, and takes up about a third less floor space than our current submerge.
The system will log the test information into a database and auto-generate test
labels only if the part passes the test. Having the ability to test up to 16
parts at one time is nice because it will eliminate our current submerge
bottleneck.
